While creating my work I fulfill my own creative impulses, immerse myself in fabricated and imagined myths - all on my own terms. It is a self-indulgent and isolating process with no regard to an audience. When I'm done, the art object has a life of its own. - My intention is to visually express ideas and feelings regarding the constant state of impermanence in which we live. Often times the source of my inspiration is derived from exploring natural environments and contemplating those fleeting experiences. I find it impossible to use descriptive representation when creating artwork about an observable phenomenon because, for me, it often evokes intense emotions and sensations that are not easily described. My hope is that the individuals who encounter my artwork will be touched in a way that helps them more understand or define their own experiences of fleeting instances. Although the materials I use are not always the same, recurring formal concerns, style, and subject link my imagery. I use paint, ink, pastel or photography; all with the intention of sharing similar and familiar experiences with a viewing audience.
