I like to be surprised while working; as though the painting is leading me on a
journey. Sometimes I borrow from the powers of the camera. I am always thinking of how my images will translate on a two dimensional surface. That design happens with the use of line, color, gesture and tension; thus making a pictorial image. The art of painting has been a thread running through my experiences and adventures. It’s a segue that continues into exploring life and

Artist Biography
Rhode Island has always been my home. I principally studied art graduating from
Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University. I then went on to study in
Mexico and Spain; probably to expand my “Yankee” and somewhat parochial
perceptions. The craft of painting has allowed me to explore life and its many
aspects; such as exhibiting my paintings, designing yachts and mobile home
interiors, teaching studio art and family literacy. Not only has it allowed me to teach but also to learn.
