As an artist, my goal is to visually communicate using kiln-fired glass. Being born into an artistic family whose father and grandfather were practicing artists, I have continued the family legacy. I utilize memories and experiences as a main motivation to create using kiln fired glass. Much like a memory, the glass first exists as a hard and brittle medium. The fluid nature of the melting glass adds an energetic quality that can be seen as a transformation, in media and idea. After cutting the colored glass, layering it, then putting it in the kiln, the colors combine, as if the glass is reborn. The idea from which the artwork started and the direction the glass chooses, leads to an expression that becomes a changed part of the final interpretation of the story.
