Fleur de Lys Studios

The Fleur de Lys Building is one of two dedicated studio buildings on Thomas Street, owned by the Providence Art Club for the use of its members. Built in 1885/86 by artist Sydney Richmond Burleigh and the architect Edmund Willson, it is a landmark of the Arts and Crafts style and is on the National Register of Historic Places. A beloved Providence icon, the Fleur de Lys was purpose built as artists' studios and was never a domicile of any kind. Originally owned by Sydney Burleigh, it was deeded to the Art Club at the time of his death and has been carefully cared for since. Typically six artists have studios in the building.

The Fleur de Lys is typically open for visits by appointment or by chance, and tours can be scheduled with Gallery Manager Michael Rose via email at michael@providenceartclub.org.

Visiting the Fleur de Lys Studios

The Fleur de Lys Studios are typically open by appointment or by chance, and several times a year the artists host open houses. Information about public accessibility will be posted on this page. For questions or to schedule a tour, please email Gallery Manager Michael Rose at michael@providenceartclub.org.

The studios are located at 7 Thomas Street in the heart of historic College Hill. They are immediately to the left of the Club's Deacon Taylor House Studios. Ample street parking is available nearby along Benefit Street and North Main Street and the studios are just a five minute walk from the Providence Amtrak Station and the Kennedy Plaza Bus Terminal. When visiting at the invitation of a PAC member, guests may utilize PAC's on site parking, details of which are available on our parking and accessibility map.

Please note that the Fleur de Lys Studio entrances have steps and the building is not accessible to individuals utilizing wheelchairs or walkers. The Art Club's galleries up the hill are fully accessible.

For Rental Inquiries:

On site studios at the Art Club are exclusively rented to current members of the organization. Currently there are no studio vacancies, but if you are a PAC member who would like to inquire, or add your name to the wait list for a studio, you may contact Membership Services Coordinator Julia Hubbard at julia@providenceartclub.org.
