Faculty Invitational

The Rhode Island Faculty Invitational Exhibition
on view in Maxwell Mays Gallery at the Providence Art Club
August, 2025

In August of 2025, the Providence Art Club will host its first ever Rhode Island Faculty Invitational celebrating the talents of college and university visual arts educators with connections to the state.

This exhibition will be curated by the Club's Gallery Manager Michael Rose, a writer and gallerist with a decade of experience on the regional art scene. This show will take place in the Club's historic Maxwell Mays Gallery on Thomas Street, where the organization has share art for 140 years. Alongside the Faculty Invitational, the Club will host a special solo exhibition of AS220 founder Bert Crenca in Dodge House Gallery and a Members' Miniatures show in Mary Castelnovo Gallery.

To be considered for inclusion, artists must teach undergraduate, graduate, or continuing education art courses in a college setting. They must also have tie to Rhode Island, meaning they must either live and/or make work in the state or they must teach in the state. A free and open form for artists to express their interest and availability can be filled out by clicking here through May 31, 2025.

Selected artists will be contacted in June with additional details. Participating artists will be asked to pay a small fee (approximately $10-$15) to cover the costs of the opening reception for the show. For questions about this exhibition, contact Michael Rose at michael@providenceartclub.org.
