Watercolor has been my main focus for over 30 years. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rhode Island, where I combined duel interests in writing and art by majoring in journalism and English literature with a minor in fine arts. I paint as often as I can find the time and am always on the lookout, with my Nikon, for inspiring subjects and locations.
I find that I enjoy painting most on hot press watercolor paper or Strathmore illustration board because of the way the paint blooms and absorbs on the smooth surface and how it can also be “lifted” and manipulated. Hot press seems to suit my subjects, which range from images of nature to landscapes, seascapes and street scenes in my native Rhode Island and other places that I travel.
