It is hard to find words to describe the excitement I feel when I leave the harbor in the morning, wondering what ever-changing weather conditions I will encounter.
After almost 50 years of on the water, along the water and in the water photography, I am still looking for iconographic challenges while discovering new destinations or showcasing the sport of sailing.
I have done the whole gamut of photography evolution, from processing and printing my own black and white pictures when the medium was film, to immediately embracing digital rendering.
I always used and still use the latest Canon equipment, Photoshop software and printing technique to present the subjects in the best light.
I was the first photographer to apply the stereo technique to yachting photography.
These new learning curves and opportunities to approach photography from another angle keep me on the creative edge.
Never standing still is the motto, that’s easy, when one is mostly working from boats and helicopters….
What fascinates me is to travel to faraway destinations and bring back photos to share which the viewers and make them feel the emotions I felt when I took the pictures.
Observing and capturing the yachts in their element, showing the crew-work and displaying the water in all its diverse forms like rain, fog and ice is the mission.
There are no bleachers offshore, I bring the visions back to the people so they can get a sense of what it looks like out there, over the horizon.
