How I work as an artist is inspired by Impressionism and Expressionism, with a touch of Fauvism now and then. When exploring how to portray a new person or place in a piece of art, I seem to spend as much time choosing which colors, techniques and tools to use as actually making it. That's the who what when and where, leaving the biggest question why. There's an old adage about how wood warms three ways: in the cutting, in the stacking, and in the burning. To me the same applies to the satisfactions of doing art: first the making, then the sharing in exhibitions, and finally having others buy it to become a part of their lives. I am grateful every day to have this meaningful occupation.
