*Works may be delivered in advance of these dates at artists’ convenience by appointment.

Exhibition Overview:
Providence Art Club Exhibiting Artist members are invited to submit one artwork to the Winter Members’ Exhibition 2021. Works in all media are welcome. Works may be no larger than 42″ in any direction, including the frame. All works must be available for purchase, with the Art Club taking 25% commission. Work must be recent and not previously shown in a members’ exhibition at the Art Club. All submissions must be original and may not utilize published photographs. Giclee prints or other reproductions of original artworks are not acceptable.

Works must be properly prepared for installation. Works on paper must be framed and works on canvas should be framed or presented on gallery wrapped canvas with a finished edge. Works must be securely wired with D-Rings. If your work requires an alternative hanging system it must be approved by the gallery manager in advance. Please do not deliver paintings that are still wet to the touch to the gallery.

Artists must complete in full our special online entry form in advance of dropping off, and submit a jpeg image of their submission to pacgalleries@gmail.com. Please also label the back of your submission with your name and the title before dropping off. About Our Awards Judge
Lois Harada, Printmaker

Lois Harada is a printmaker bridging fine art and commercial printing in Providence, Rhode Island. Her work utilizes commercial production techniques and equipment to create printed editions that are meant to be affordable and accessible to a wide audience. Print editions are often responses to mass produced print material created by governments, corporations or newspapers.

A frequent exhibitor of her fine art printmaking, Lois’s work has been juried into the Art Club’s highly competitive National Open Juried Exhibition three times; in 2017, 2018, and 2020. She has also been the subject of solo exhibitions at Cade Tompkins Projects, AS220, World’s Fair Gallery, and the Sarah Doyle Gallery at Brown University. In 2020, she participated in the In Cahoots Residency in Petaluma, California and in 2019 she earned a Dorry Award for Solo Exhibition of The Year. Additionally, she has taught courses on printmaking in RISD’s Continuing Education Department and at the Art Club.

Originally from Salt Lake City, Lois settled in Providence after graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Fine Arts, Printmaking (2010). She is the Invitation and Stationery Manager at DWRI Letterpress where she is in charge of client management and design. She also serves the Board Chair at New Urban Arts, a nationally recognized non-profit that offers free after school art programming for high school students and young artists. In 2019, she was named a City Commissioner for Art in City Life by the City of Providence.

Catalogue Images:
We plan to create a virtual catalogue for our Winter Members’ Exhibition. Please email hi-res JPEG image of your work to pacgalleries@gmail.com. Please title your email “Winter Show Image” and include your name and the title of the work in the body of the email. Your image should be labelled LastName_FirstName.jpg.

Due to current staffing limitations, we are not able to provide photography assistance. All artists are responsible for their own photography. If work is under glass, we strongly recommend you photograph it before framing as any photos taken after it is framed will likely suffer from glare or color distortion.

Please be considerate of what a large undertaking each exhibition catalogue is. We can only create catalogues if all artists follow our directions.

Media: Works in All Media are welcome!

Eligibility:
Open to Exhibiting Artist members only, one submission per artist.

Size:
Size limit is 42” x 42”, including the frame. Three-dimensional work may not exceed 42″ in any direction, and may not weigh more than 100lbs.

Preparation:
Works must be properly and professionally prepared for installation. Works on paper must be framed and under glass, and works presented on canvas should be framed or otherwise must be displayed on gallery wrapped canvas. Works must be wired securely with D-Rings. If you feel a different hanging apparatus is more appropriate for your work, you must have it approved in advance by the gallery manager. Paintings that are wet to the touch will not be accepted.

Delivery of Work:
January 19 – 21 during gallery hours only (weekdays 12-4pm). Works must be delivered to a member of the gallery staff and may not be left unattended at the Club. All artists must fill out the online entry form in advance of drop off, must email a JPEG image of their work to pacgalleries@gmail.com in advance of drop off, and must label the back of their work with their name and the title of the piece in advance of drop off. We have discontinued use of paper entry forms in the gallery. If you would like to deliver your work outside of gallery hours, please schedule an appointment to do so with Michael Rose. He will be happy to assist!

Packing Material:
If your packing material is precious to you, please take it home at time of drop off. We have very limited storage and cannot store and return packing materials for every artist in the exhibition. If a work is particularly fragile and needs to remain packed until installation, please inform the gallery manager and he will accommodate you.

The Art Club reserves the right to reject works that are improperly prepared or that otherwise do not meet our standards at the discretion of the Art Committee and Gallery Manager.

Removal of Work:
February 15 – 19, weekdays 12-4pm. Please make every effort to pick up your work in a timely manner. The Art Club has very limited storage space. Works left at the Club will become subject to a storage fee at the discretion of the Gallery Manager and Art Committee.

Insurance:
The Art Club carries a blanket policy covering fire and theft, but not breakage. The insurance value is considered 2/3 of the sale price, but no entry is insured for more than $250. For works of higher values we strongly encourage artists to provide their own insurance.
