From Angell’s Lane to Memory Lane
A Journey Through the History of The Providence Art Club
Providence Art Club Archivist Chris Ratcliffe will take us back to the earliest days of The Providence Art Club as he shares important historical artifacts and the stories that go along with them.
The talk will begin with the construction of the Art Club building by Seril Dodge and continue on through the end of the 19th century, with a focus on Rosa Peckham, Charles Walter Stetson, George Whitaker, and Edward Bannister, among others. This night promises to both entertain and inform with a fast-paced journey through the Providence Art Club’s rich tradition of making art and making history.
